Try

By

George O. Obikoya

The tornado takes the lamb

An alien world ever so true

Mass to reveal its quiet mien

Triad of faith its blessedness

It cries

To the heavens over for help

Where forever its soul waits

Others tread the lean lanes

And welcome its tired face

To smile

The pace seems to it strange

Left to wane and pray again

For much of what is there to

It tries to salvage not in vain

For life

Grounded in an eternal daze

Suited not to a tender soul

Topaz its coat a hued sheen

For all to sing sacred tunes

Of joy

As even thrust into it within

Ways of yore intense shame

Lamentations shine through

And so clamour for its pain

To fade

Still it flies in twisted rings

Ensconced it seems for life

Away with the wind to wilt

Flung into an immenseness

So wild

With no time to say goodbye

Or with parting gifts to bear

Lost souls throng feral lairs

Brethrens new silent bestow

True love

Which redeems you friends?

Other than one more to spare

Seen over by another as real

To trust and love preciously

For good

It matters not now the pain

Many years before you bore

As gone with vicious winds

No more ever to live in pain

You say

Life goes on in all to pray

For others the bounties too

They pray for us all to share

In rain, shame, or even pain

With all

Let no noisome ways reign

In minds so full of grace

All must mean much to save

Life too dear not to praise

Now again

My friends it is ever so true

Safe in eternal souls for good

That not even chaos of faith

Will erase in an ageless soul

For gain

So, the lamb in you lives on

A true innocence we share

Rouse it now from eternal kip

And relish the shared union

You crave

Never think it’s late my friend

Show love for kindred and all

For your soul to now tell over

The tenderness natural in us

So true

And that for our sake to reign

It behoves us all to try to train

To be awake a first step for sure

On the path to chase our pain

Far away

Try, my friends to all I pray

Show love and mercy always

As through the ages we strive

To live well even as we all ache

Over again

For what life gives us never

Must test our faith in ways

That love will not manifest

In souls that as one will reign

Here ever

Even when too worn to gain

With nowhere near for a veil

And we so strain and quake

Our souls’ hems in manacles

We try

We know not when the lamb

Lands in quandary far away

Alone not in promised days

A young soul dreams away

Still try

It will be well trust you say

The sun will shine yet again

To dry all your tears away

And warm a tired soul again

So try

Don’t quit ever your dreams

For troubles just now gone

Pain that wanes and fades

For a smile to bloom again

Please try

It may be so hard you say

To not sleep in for days

And hide amid the sheets

From a world so full of pain

But try

Try now and never give up

Tomorrow is another day

It will be a better day I say

As hope keeps pain at bay

Try again

Remember who you are

Never mind what it seems

As you will still be who is

That simmers in you still

To live

So say that you sure will

Despite what’s in your way

That you will never ever quit

To see your dreams fulfilled

Try still

Life true is often so unfair

With much going for much

That seems barter for zilch

When yet the truth eludes

You try

To you and yours you say

Your efforts are not in vain

As truly what counts you ask

In where none seems for real

Yet try

For the answers you so seek

May be before you for real

And open your eyes for once

To whom truly you should be

Never stop

There seems so much to say

To us by us as by our ways

We move our world in ways

Where we may never know

It heads

With for us so much to lose

Lost in the vastness of time

Our future melted in space

By forces we cannot control

Try too

As all of us must try to gain

Our world back in us again

From drift pervasive so lost

In time abyss beset with pain

Then try

To be sure we seek redemption

We connect in faith and unity

Certain we truly so much value

Our world to work hard to save

Try all

For you and for me and us all

To show we do genuinely care

For our brothers and sisters

And the children we so love

Try, try

We will all sure smile again

Live life with peace and love

Trusting that our earthly trip

Is worth every minute again

Don’t stop

Face your plight with valour

Pray for vigour for a new day

To beat your woes yet again

And be alive for a better day

So pray

You will inspire your folks

To do just the same you did

Beat the pains of the angst

Of life that we must all bear

Always try

With the fortitude we share

And our hope for a better day

Life will sure bear for us all

Fruits of our labour to gain

So try

Try, my friends again I say

We should never stop to say

We will trounce our misery

And be happy all once again

Try all

For so we are bound for good

On track to save us all and ours

A planet on which we so thrive

Even as we thrash it so cruelly

Stop that, please.
